Welcome to Fatties on the Fly Fly Fishing Guide Service! We offer an unforgettable experience on one of Texas’ hidden gems, the Brazos River. With its dynamic fishery and stunning landscapes, the Brazos is an ideal location for anglers of all skill levels. Here’s what you need to know about fly fishing on the Brazos with us.
About the Brazos River
The Brazos River is the longest river flowing entirely within Texas, covering a watershed that begins approximately 50 miles west of the Texas-New Mexico state line and flows all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. The river’s watershed stretches 1,050 miles and covers an impressive 45,510 square miles—42,830 of which are in Texas.
The river proper is formed by the confluence of the Salt and Double Mountain forks in Stonewall County, with the Clear Fork joining just above Possum Kingdom Lake in Young County. It ultimately enters the Gulf of Mexico two miles south of Freeport in Brazoria County.
Despite its size and significance, the Brazos River is often overlooked by anglers, making it an underrated treasure for those seeking a great fishing experience away from crowds.
